Generative AI - The next big thing?

Hey Cookie Tech!

2 hours ago, Roblox announced Generative AI coming to the platform soon, which may replace the need for ChatGPT in roblox development!

The AI is able to script and create materials, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

But, I want to know your thoughts, so leave them in the replies below!

For now,
@peter

WOW!

AI in Roblox? I’m going to try this out asap. This is super cool and it will definitely help everyone!

I agree, as I have no experience in scripting, this will be great for someone like me!

Roblox promises features and then never goes ahead with it, think of Roblox Videos for examples, around 2 years ago we were promised we would get Roblox Videos, what’s happened now? It’s gone dormant.

I don’t know if this will actually release. I’m also not sure how they’re going to afford it. But we’ll have to wait and see.

It looks like they already have quite a bit of progress on this feature however.

Yes, that’s true … Roblox did sort of scrap the video concepts. But AI is becoming the future for every company as we’ve already seen with Microsoft just under a month ago. Every company is likely to use AI in their products now so I doubt they’ll scrap this concept.

I hope this update does NOT drop. There are going to start to be five year olds on the community trying to make the next big game.

If this does happen, what was the point of learning scripting? Like, did Roblox just make it pointless?

And yes, I know, now new people who don’t know how to code, can just go ahead and type something in there, but where is the self-achievement in that?

This update is going to take things to a stupid level. I don’t want 5 year olds little “Adopt me (new)” games to be on my “For You” page.

So, say your final goodbyes to your Home Page, and the most important things, what used to be called a “Scripter” or a “Modeler”

you will be missed

AI is good, but it’s not that good, it won’t kill proper scripting at all. Also to be good at coding you need to know how to fix issues and understand the logic behind it.

It is going to take some time to develop properly, but I’m just thinking, do YOU think that it’s pretty much just letting people be lazy who already know how to script?
