Thoughts on Spatial Voice for a restaurant?

The title explains most of it, but let me elaborate…

An amazing team of developers are creating an amazing restaurant, and I’m wondering your thoughts on spatial voice for the game?

Cafe games seem to be popular with 8 - 12 year olds, which are ineligible for VC, so it wouldn’t be a main feature which we would be dependent on, it would be for a mature chat.

Also, many large games such as Coast don’t have Spatial Voice (at least they didn’t used to).

So, I want to know your thoughts.

I am about to release a hotel game, I think turning Spatial Voice for a restaurant is a bit of a bad idea. Let me explain, so people can BREAK THE RULES using spatial voice which isn’t moderated. They could be swearing in front of kids that do have spatial voice on. I would do a bit where it is called “Spatial Voice server” where only accounts that are 13+ can join it.

That isn’t a feature on Roblox, anyone can join servers with Voice Chat from any age, regardless if they have Voice Chat or not.

I think it’s an okay idea to use Voice Chat in the game, but there are some downfalls. Staff may have voice chat, and so may the customer so they could communicate using that, and stop the chat flooding with greetings, and here is your order.

There’s a reason why Spatial Voice was carefully reviewed before it’s release. We also know that people have to simple verify their age via settings. Nobody under 13+ can use Spatial Voice.

They can, they can fake their roblox age and use their siblings or parents passport, id ect

Faking roblox age will result in the account being terminated. I’ve tried to verify my account, it you require a passport or drivers license, and then you will need to show your face to verify it belongs to you.

Thanks for your thoughts. Users without verified ages will not be able to hear spatial voice, and 13+ servers do not exist at this time. I think we’ve ruled out spatial voice for the time being.

You could always code this in.

However in my opinion I wouldn’t take the risk, I’ve been on a few roblox spatial voices, I’m a beta tester for roblox, when spatial voice was restricted it was actually quite enjoyable, however now with the “publication” of the feature, conversations in some games can get quite nasty.
