I disagree. repl.it is not for hosting.
Repl.it is not meant for hosting unless your using the pre-played āhackerā pass, which allows you to do private & 24/7 online repls.
Before I start, this is the definition of an āIDEā - Integrated development environment.
And IDE is not meant to be hosting code, an IDE, is not safe to host your development projects as NO safety is integrated.
Your relying on repl.it servers (which are meant for running code that you test) and pingdom to do this stuff.
Also, all of your code is instantly open source, so if you make a banging bot, someone steals it and copyrights it as them what can you do?
Repl.it may not like you using there IDE as a server.
Iām almost certain that is against repl.it TOS in order to use the IDE as a server unless you pay for there premium.
I understand that servers are expensive, and weāre all in the same bubble, including me. I used to use repl.it servers. But now I donāt.
Repl.it canāt do much powerful things either, running a music bot on multiple discord servers on repl.it could cause your server to crash. And a repl.it doesnāt automatically start the server again, it just shuts off. And if repl.it goes down it wonāt automatically start up again, unlike over servers where they will swap to another server if the current one breaks down.
Itās unfair to people who pay the extra money to have 24/7 servers if everyone else can get servers for free, its just like why?
If your really struggling you can get cheap servers from digital ocean, and really cheap BUT fast servers from hetzner.

Which translates to simple words:
Donāt use the service as a serverless engine called from somewhere else or to harvest data from different replit instances, donāt scrape replit for user/service information information, donāt use replit to get new users (I guess this is as a mail engine etc.). Other than that, you can use our embeds.
So, please get a cheap server from somewhere and make it fair for everyone to use the repl.it platform for its purpose, repl.it will eventually block people from running repls as server. Which will be super annoying as the repl will most likely have to stop running in 5 minutes, so if you have something that takes 10 minutes to run. Your done, unless you stay on the tab for the whole time.
Correction: repl.it is not ok to use as a host unless you pay for the 24/7 repl.

Uhm, I just use this free thing called uptime robot to keep my repls up for 24/7 and use keys to store my values, never had a problem with it before. One of my bots, which is on top.gg runs in replit
Ahhhh. But if you read my post, hosting on repl.it is against tos still. Just reading the post gives off an impression.
Correction. When I did discord bots we reached out to their staff and asked them if it is okay to use their service and allow us to use uptime robot to host it. They were completely fine with it.

Well, I have read them. But there is no need to start an argument about hosting bots. That is very childish. But it did indeed say that we could not host your projects but, as I said I contacted support about it.
Where is the support team contact form, as I canāt seem to find it.

Also, Iām not trying to insult you, I respect everyone on this forums as long as they respect me back, I have the right to have an opinion & the whole point of the forums is to have mature arguments and try to bring across your opinion, I have the right to make my opinion and clear & calling my opinion āVery childishā is just darn right rude, I donāt like to be told that itās childish, when you should not use an online Ide as your server host. Itās simply an opinion and as I respect your opinion I may not agree it, I donāt believe its very childish as its just a valid opinion that I believe you should respect, I find that you really need to re-phrase your replies if you want to have a mature argument with someone, as calling others opinions āchildishā is not the way to go. I am not arguing Iām just having a matured argument as I believe that you should not use the IDE as the host, ask any expect and they will recommend not using an Ide, take for example āHmmBillyā hates people who use IDEās as host.
