Large discord bot got hacked - Koya

One of the largest discord bot’s got hacked and how this happened is extravagantly confusing.

The discord bot who we’re going to be talking to is called “Koya”, Koya is a multi utility discord, ranking as one of the top 20 discord bots in servers, 2.34M discord servers alone, isn’t that crazy!?

The amount of damage that could be caused from the bot alone could be devastating, at 2023-01-21T19:34:00Z the hack was launched and the Koya staff lost control of the server.

Without a surprise a server being hacked can just take minutes until the server ends up a wasteland. Instead of just causing damage to these servers, the hackers take a much more profitable approach, scamming & self promotion.

It turns out that the hackers also sent out self advertisements in dms from the bot.

Issues where coming fast, especially as the KoyaBeta bot, is an official bot, showing that something has clearly been compromised. :lock:

These hackers kept messing up as they tried promoting servers, then blaming other servers for the hack and it was all big chaos.

Now anybody who is experiencing this in real time must be incredibly confused. Apparently the owners account got hacked and this is how it all came to light, but I don’t know how an account of this importance could be compromised.

What are your opinions on this and who is to blame? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Yes - I didn’t keep myself updated on the situation so I didn’t read everything, but I never told you to remove koya from your server
