The Eras Of Roblox

Since it’s first appearance on the internet in 2006. Roblox has gone through many eras. With people coming and going, the game we now know as Roblox, was never always like this. Today I’m going to be talking about the 3 eras of Roblox.

  • 2006-2012 - The Classic Era:

Roblox is here! The game name changed from Dynablox (a physics lab) to Roblox and there are some really cool games like the Classic Happy home! and Chaos Canyon. The cursor is a wide cartoony pointer which makes it hard to move to exact spots but it’s still fun! This was an exiting time for users of the internet as this was one of the first games to bring the sandbox concept onto the internet

  • 2013-2014 - The Renaissance Era:

This is where Roblox started to develop and make its name in the community. During this time people started to move from Minecraft over to Roblox. Youtubers also started looking towards Roblox Content. 2014 was also the year some of the biggest games on Roblox came out. In 2014 we saw the release &/ Upbringing of: Work at a Welcome To Bloxburg, Murder Mystery 2 & Natural Disaster Survival. No matter when you joined. Most Roblox users have played at least one of these games. That is how big these games are

  • 2015 - late 2018 - Post Renaissance/ Pre Modern Era:

This era had both Stuff from the classic era and the modern era. In this era we saw alot of games come out with modern designs however the classic games were still present and going strong. This is the era when the biggest games on Roblox came out. In this era we saw the release of Adopt me, Jailbreak & Tycoons. This era had a, lot. Of tycoons. I started playing Roblox aswell in this era.

  • 2019 - Mid 2021 - Modern Era:

This is the modern era of Roblox. In this era we had some of the highest rates of people singing up & Group games such as hotels and cafes started coming out. This was also the era where we lost the classic signup page and the classic leaderboard aswell. But this is the era where Roblox games started to develop onto a very realistic scale. During this time we saw both Low Poly & Realistic building styles emerge. This era came to an end towards the end of 2021.

  • Late/End of 2021 - 20XX - New Beginnings

This is not really an era but it is very much worth putting down. The Roblox we all know has changed so much in the past years and it is changing again. With the Release of rthro, layered clothing, face animations and now LIVE face animations we are barely holding on to our past (everything in the classic eras). Nevertheless this is going on to be something huge. Something we never really thought of when we think “Roblox”. The world of the Roblox Metaverse is going through a state of changing as is the rest of the internet currently. The way we connect with people is changing and so is the way we do things.

The older the platform gets (the more people that join) the worse the moderation gets too. However roblox has came a long way, from commonly being known for crashing every few hours it works quite well nowadays.

I have to say, Live Face Animations freak me out. Just watching it I’ve noticed the tongue looks like a completely separate part from the face, therefore that means it’s 3D, which in my opinion is something they should not add.

Post renaissance era was my favourite, as I felt roblox was most “innovative” then.

I actually disagree with you here, I personally think the most innovative time is 2020 - present, the amount of new and interesting updates we’ve seen coming is unreal, we rolled out global voice chat in under a year.

This is when roblox will make the bigger changes, but they need to think of the long term consequences.

Bro 2015-2017 when I joined was a great time on roblox especially for me. So many great games and so much time on my hands, I really miss it. Playing games like work at a pizza place, field of battle, tons of tycoons like lumber tycoon 2 with my sisters and just finding new great games every day. Today it’s still great and some new games are really great but many are becoming less unique like tons of simulators and boring dull games that hardly ever engage you with others and the chat is just so dry. I sometimes wish the old style games would come back. Even the stupid adopt and raise a baby games were fun to troll and mess around on especially if they had admin. Good times good times.
